CARLA YORBA, NP
I was inspired to enter the medical field because the majority of my family members are medical professionals and after nearly 30 years of practice I cannot imagine any other career which can exceed the challenges and rewards of a professional nurse. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Master’s of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Azusa Pacific University. A University I carefully sought out for its many unique educational experiences, such as parish nursing, homeless and Mexican orphanage medical outreach, with a focus on community and service. My experience ranges from pediatrics through geriatrics, public health, with a special interest in lifestyle medicine/health and wellness coaching. I’ve come to see and understand lifestyle contributes foremost to a persons health state and that one how much control, choice and power over their wellness. I also come to learn and experience people truly desire to be healthy and happy and can be much more successful with the support of a health provider with a coaching approach. For nearly 20 years I have been a volunteer for Sacramento Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT), with other medical providers. We are deployed by the federal Government in the event of a large-scale disaster/emergencies to provide medical care to disaster affected people and their communities. In my spare time, I enjoy any activity which I can have fun, learn and burn calories.
